This is the last of the cards I made this week with an "asian" theme. I've had so much fun. This one came to me by way of a tiny scrap of paper left inside my SU set. It was a small photo copy of a very similar card and I thought it was such a great idea I used it!

My challenge for today is for you all to use an older SU set you haven't used in awhile.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Accordian Fold

Yayyyyyyy I used my scor-pal! See I'm so easily entertained. Ha Ha. In one of the groups I'm on we had our biweekly challenge and this one was to make a card using the accordian fold. I used another one of the older SU sets that I just got and my copics on the fish. For the round image I used versarmark and embossed it right on the cardstock. You won't believe this but I found this paper awhile back at our local Big Lots. It never hurts to check out the craft section no matter where you are, you never know what you'll find :) Have a blessed and safe Memorial Day.

This is my new to me older SU set that I purchased from my friend Nancy. She is having a huge sale to get rid of a lot of her older SU inventory that she can't use. I bought several items and when I got home I realized that everything I bought was an oriental type theme except one. So you may notice a trend the next couple days LOL. I did use my brayer and my new versamark pen on this card. Still practing with my brayer :) Have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to remember those who serve.

We haven't had a color challenge in quite awhile so I've seen such cool cards lately using black, white and pink that this will be my challenge to you for this week. Have a great Friday Baby!

Thursday Travel and DAK!

I just had to do another post and show you this really pretty card I received from Danni on our Diva group. The pattern is really cool. Thanks so much for thinking of me Danni.

Since it's Thursday I am also doing my Thursday Travels all in one. Gina K had a few new releases this week so hurry and check them out. The new one with the zebra is my favorite :)

Have a great day!

These are some random photos from my daughters last dance recital. It's very sad for me LOL but not her. She's ready to spend more time on sports etc. So she decided this year would be her last. I think my son was so excited over it...........he fell asleep LOL.

More Faux Silk

I just had to share these faux silk cards with you. I showed the one I made awhile back and these are the ones I got from Lori in return. Aren't they fabulous? See this is what I mean.......I'm stuck in a box right now, I never would have used colored tissue paper and it looks great. Next time I will try this technique using colored tissue paper!

Monday, May 19, 2008

This is another attempt at using my brayer and just playing around. My SU refills finally came in so I've since refilled some of my ink pads and I hope that makes a difference. Anyway it's a lot of fun to play around and try for different effects but hopefully later this week I'll have time to try out my new versamarker instead of using the one I have that tints everything "blue" LOL. Have a great Monday and if you get the chance try something NEW. :)

Happy Friday!

This image was sent to me from Ashley at www.treehousestamps.com and I thought immediately it needed to be red :) Imagine that. Anyway I made this card following a sketch for another group I am on. Sometimes it's hard for me to get out of "the box".....so following a sketch is a good thing.

My challenge for you today is to follow a sketch (of your choice) but make it something you wouldn't normally do or wouldn't normally appeal to you. Please link back and share with us. Have a wonderful weekend.

Have a great Thursday!

Inspired by Gina K.

I've been doing a lot of tutorials lately, sort of trying to get out of the "box" I'm in. I had my extra son this past weekend (my friend Angie's son Nick) while she was out of town and he wanted to make his mom a mothers day card so we both made cards like this. Gina K. did hers using an old book that she tore pages out of and distressed and I used my SU background stamp. Poor thing was several years old and had never been inked up. LOL see I told you I'm working on that! Hope everyone has a great day.

This is the card I made for our postabella group. The "theme" for April and May is April Showers Bring May Flowers. Last month I used Billybootabella and so this month I thought I'd better bring on the flowers. How is the weather where you are? Boy we have sure had a lot of rain the past couple weeks. I can't wait to see how the flowers turn out.

Bad Bananas

http://video.yahoo.com/watch/2419936/7504433

Anyone that knows me well knows I hate bananas. Seriously hate them. I think they smell bad, the texture is bad etc. Now just so you know - it's confirmed. Bananas are evil! :)

Enjoy

Inspired by Michelle Zindorf

I just absolutely love the tuts on Michelle's blog and after I made the card using punches I figured it was time to try the brayer. I read several of her tutorials and set to work. I learned several things.......I need more ink in my older SU pads, I need lots more practice with the brayer and I need to wait for my versamarker to come in from my SU order. I used an embossing marker that I picked up at Hobby Lobby and even though it said clear it seems it tints everything blue. I also wonder what type of roller Michelle uses in her brayer. I know there a couple different types and mine is the normal tan one but I'm thinking about checking the different types. One thing is for sure I need a lot more practice and that means a lot of fun. Have a great day.

Isn't this little guy cute? I (insert gasp) bought this several years ago when a stamping convention came to town and this was the first time I inked him up. I joined a bugs and butterfly swap and was searching my stash and found this stamp. It's amazing how many old stamps I have that never saw ink or paper :) I'm working on that don't worry! Have a great Monday.

Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day to all of you! I hope you have a lovely day. I am so excited, my son got me beautiful flowers, my daughter got me a red gazing ball for our yard and my husband got me tickets to see Steve Miller and Joe Cocker in June. It's a rainy dreary day so as soon as we put the gazing ball outside I'll take a photo of it. Have a blessed week!

Mothers Day Flowers

These beautiful flowers are from my son. He gave me these for mothers day and I just love them. I think he chose well :)

A Rose For Mothers Day

Friday I posted a challenge to share your cards you made for Mothers Day. I just love this stamp and I knew I wanted to use it again so this is one of the Mothers Day cards that I put together. I did a couple this way tipping the rose in pink. Last week we just purchased a new rose bush and I thought it was just gorgeous and I can only hope my coloring does it justice. Have a wonderful Mothers Day.

Tulips

I received this card earlier this week from Joani on one of my yahoo groups and I loved it. Tulips are such pretty flowers and usually very pastel colored and I love the way she colored hers, very bright and wow what sparkles. Thanks so much Joani.

Wednesday FUNNNNNN

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zePoxNy8iag

I am so excited to share this with you today. My son's band teacher is so much fun. There are quite a few percussionists between the 6th and 8th grades so he decided to do something special with them this year. It was so much fun last night. ENJOY. PS - my DS has the black shirt and pants and blue bucket LOL.

Four Seasons Team

My daughter Andrea had her first fastpitch game of the season last night. This is her 2nd year of playing fastpitch and we are so excited for her. She is the starting catcher and that's all she wants to do LOL.

Paisleys

Isn't this beautiful? This was sent to me by Cathy St. Clair off our yahoo group. It's another example of faux bleaching that we had as our last challenge. I loved the way her card turned out! If you are interested in trying it there are some great tuts on SCS and don't be afraid to try it, it's very easy and a lot less trouble than using real bleach.

Punched Vase Tut by Michelle Zindorf

I can't begin to tell you how excited I was to finish this card. Two weeks ago I shared with you the incredible work being done by Michelle Zindorf but I have to admit I've been rather intimidated to actually try her techniques. Friday she posted this tutorial and I thought ok you can do this it's only punches and some shadowing LOL. Is mine perfect? Of course not but it was incredibly worth it to move out of my comfort zone. I was out of barely banana which Michelle used but I tried to stick as close as I could to her ink choices etc that way I knew it would come out ok. She really does make her tuts easy to follow and I'll definitely be trying again.

Bridalbella

My wonderful hairdresser, Shama, is getting married and yesterday was her bridal shower. I made this card for her using a lovely Bella from Stampingbella.com and my emobssing folder. I received this awesome ribbon from Ashley at Treehousestamps.com from her brainwave challenge. I must get some it's so pretty and silky. Hope you all have a blessed Sunday.

Tissue Paper Challenge

In all my years of stamping Hhahahhaah I don't think I ever stamped on tissue paper and now I can say I have. This is for a challenge on one of the yahoo groups I am involved in and we have to trade cards with another member after each challenge. It's a lot of fun to see how everyone takes the challenge in a different direction. I used an older SU background set and stamped on the tissue paper then colored the leaves with different copics and let dry. Be careful if you try this and use a scrap paper underneath as the ink and copics go through. After it dried I crumbled it all up and then smoothed out and cut to size. I used the small tree which is actually the card back stamp from http://www.treehousestamps.com/ and I used a marker to ink the tree versus the saying at the bottom. I also colored it with my copics and yes you can see I used my favorite swiss dots embossing folder. Have a beautiful weekend and GO GREEN.

Friday Challenge!

I'm making it very simple today. Use an animal stamp of any kind. I love all the baby animals in the spring don't you? Please share whatever you make! Have a wonderful weekend.

Pink and Chocolate Postabella

I think these are really just 2 of the greatest colors to work with, pink and yummy chocolate. I received this great card from the Postabella group, Kristina Miller. Isn't it great? I'm going to have to use this shape too I love the square look.

This very special tractor image (Serendipity Stamps) was sent to me by Deb from our yahoo group StampCrazyColorBox. She posted a card she made using this image to look her family tractor and I loved it and she kindly shared some images with me. I made this card and mailed it to my husband at home because he is so supportive of my hobbies (like he doesn't have a million as well hahahah). Sometimes we forget to make things for the ones we love and this is for him. It was fun to surprise him because he gets the mail each day as he's home first. Thanks Deb for sending me the images!
