RAK - Thinking of you

I haven't had as much time to stamp as I wanted this weekend but this is one of my RAK's I made for the challenge on Friday. I had a lot of fun coloring this image. I used my prisma watercolor pencils and a blender pen. Lots of layers of cardstock and the saying is from a G stamp I think that I picked up at Michaels. Hope you all had a great weekend.

Excited!

http://inkydoodle.blogspot.com/

Yayyyy I am excited. I logged onto my email tonight and read on Korin's blog that my card called A Mothers Love (that I posted on Tuesday) was the one she picked for her challenge winner. She's going to send me some of her handmade cards. I can't wait, I love her work.

Interesting Morning - Earthquake!

Right before the alarm went off this morning I was having this weird dream that my car wasn't driving right and I realized it wasn't my car and that I was at home and my house was shaking. I woke up my husband but didn't tell him why because I was half afraid he wouldn't feel the house moving but he did. We sat there for a couple seconds saying "wow" and then it was over. Did you all feel it?

A moderate earthquake shook many residents in their beds this morning in northeastern Indiana. According to the United States Geological Survey, Earthquake Information Center, the earthquake occurred at 5:37 am Indiana time this morning and was a magnitude 5.4. The epicenter for this earthquake was 7 miles from west Salem Illinois and 61 miles north northwest of Evansville Indiana. The Associated Press reports that tall buildings were swaying in Indianapolis. According the USGS a quake of the same magnitude was recorded with an epicenter in west Salem, Illinois in 1968. The 1968 quake was felt across 23 states.

Friday Challenge

Today is my normal challenge day and I'd like to do something different. Instead of a technique or color or pattern, I'd like you to send out 2 RAK's. Please send one RAK to a friend or someone special and one to a family member. Remember RAK's are for any reason at all so the card can be funny or it can be pretty or just anything at all. Have fun! Please let us know when you are done but you don't have to tell us who so as not to spoil it. Enjoy the day!

Thursday Travels

I found this tutorial just absolutely perfect. It can be used for a man's card but also anything to do with nature or the GO GREEN Tree from Treehouse Stamps. I cannot wait to try it.

Have you seen these? I am thinking now that we know how to "flock" our brads we could try glitter.

Wed Funny

Last week I posted a photo of my oldest cat Morgan and my daughter Andrea. Well going through photos the other day I found this photo of Morgan and my daughter Andrea. Side by side we just couldn't believe how big they've both gotten :) Andrea was just 2 years old when Morgan came along and now she's 10 and Morgan will be 8 this July. When we first got Morgan we were not expecting to have any cats but a friend of mine had gone to KY for work with her husband. While they were there they noticed a neighbor down the road from where they were staying was using a bow and arrow and chasing something. Turns out it was this kitten and she got the kitten away from them and brought her home to IN. Well her kids all have severe allergies but the loved Morgan and wanted to keep her. After a few days they knew it would not work and I was the one who said yes. Morgan has been a big part of our lives for a long time now and we are lucky to have her. We also have two other cats Oliver and Emily and two dogs Lilly and Sam. More on the animal brood to come.

A Mothers Love

I was going to wait until tomorrow to post this card but I have something funny for Wednesday humor day so I decided to go ahead and post this tonight. I made this card for Korin at Inkydoodle's last challenge. It was a sketch challenge and I thought it would be fun to stamp an image and then cut it into pieces. I also got to use one of my favorite sets that I ordered from her and hadn't used much of. If you haven't tried this technique you definitely should give it a go. Enjoy!

Tax Day!

So what do you think about bleach? Do you use it on your whites? Do you feel it's environmentally safe? I know we use it at our house (the lemon fresh variety LOL) but I didn't know how harmful it was until I was reading about the faux bleach technique. Will I stop using it on my laundry? Probably no. If you saw my kids socks you'd know why. I think I am going to start buying only colorful socks. Anyway I digress, sorry. I am involved in a yahoo group that twice a month we have a challenge to follow. Our latest challenge involves faux bleaching and I have to admit it was rather fun to try. At first I thought I had a big mess and I was disappointed but I think when I cut out the image using my circle cutter it sort of made a focal point for the image and I was happier. I had a lot of fun putting this together last night and hope you like it. P.S. Look for it as a challenge soon!

Fun Flock Challenge

Friday I challenged you try either Taylor's velvet brad technique or using fun flock on a card. I tried the brads and found it was super easy. Last night I dug out my chicken stamps and added the fun flock. I only have 2 colors yellow and white and I'm definitely going to need more. Hope you try it! Please link back and show us your work.

Tree House Stamps Go Green

The first time I saw this tree it reminded me of a tree in the back field behind my grandparents farm house. I don't know why but I think we all loved that tree and sitting under it. I knew this stamp would be perfect to make, simple but elegant cards for thinking of you, sympathy or even a guys birthday. This brought back many happy memories of growing up around my grandparents.

Double Challenge Weekend

This is the card sketch I followed for our April Postabella swap. The theme was April Showers Bring May Flowers. Kim Doktor sent me the images in a trade and I love this bella. She is one I will be ordering soon. I colored her with my copics and added some sparkle to her shirt and used my prima flowers. But.........to work on my own Friday challenge I tried the velvet brad technique and it was so easy. I didn't have the glue pad Taylor used so I just used some of my clear glue and dipped the brads in my fun flock and let them dry. Very simple and lots of fun. Gives the flower a fuzzy fun look. Enjoy!

Diva For A Day

Soon as I saw this image from Inky Antics I knew it had to be mine. I loved it from the first time I saw it. My DD asks me where her face is LOL. I used my Copics to color it and then added some sparkles to her wrap and used my new favorite embossing folder. I had so much fun making her. Hope you like it.

Tweet Plate Pink Cat Studio

Update this morning I posted the card again using a shot I took from my camera. I still need more lighting in my office but I am glad I see them side by side. My scanner seems to wash everything out.

I decided to try scanning versus my camera and I definitely don't like the way it turned out. I received my new Tweet Plate from Pinkcatstudio today and I absolutely love it. These little birds are so much fun. I think tomorrow I'll use my camera and load a photo and compare the two side by side.

Arte y pico Award from Bere

I got the cutest email from Bere at http://berrybitchprincess.blogspot.com/ telling me she had selected me for the Arte Y Pico aka Art & More award.
This award is given to bloggers who share their art creations through blogging and here are the rules...
1. You have to pick five blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribute to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and the link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself
4. Award-winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of Arte y Pico blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.

It was really difficult because there are more than 5 I'd have chosen but these are the ones I've seen such great ideas from lately and they weren't the same ones Bere chose LOL.

Friday Challenge

http://tayloredexpressions.blogspot.com/2008/03/do-it-yourself-velvet-brads.html
I don't know if you have a chance to read Taylor's blog but I subsribe to it and like her ideas a lot. I kept this link because I thought it would be fun to try. My challenge to you this week is to use fun flock somehow on a card. I don't have a glue pad but I think I may try this brad idea. I'll let you know how it turns out! Good luck and may the force be with you!

Thursday Travels

In case you have not seen Gina K has some new stamps called Kindred Spirits. They are really nice and I love the stories that go along with each of them. If you order any I'd sure love to see what you make with them. I sort of like the Supermoms :)

These new stamps are available digitally. I have not tried that yet but I know Deb has. I really like these stamps a lot especially Jane. Have you tried digital downloads and colored them? What is your preference for coloring them? I think Hailey should be renamed Bere? Whatcha think. Love you Bere. Now send me some cake! Hahahhahahahah.

http://card-scents.com/catalog.php?category=11

I have not ordered from this company yet but I think I'm in love with this new set. It's going on my want list which gets bigger each day. Has anyone ordered from them? How fast is shipping?

Last but not least my fav's from Korin! OLIVIA is here.

http://sweetnsassystamps.blogspot.com/2008/04/3-new-sets-to-be-released-friday.html

However I am sharing some exciting news from Katie Skiff. She told me that Olivia will be in her June 1st Monthly Stamp kit! I cannot wait to see what she puts together for this.

I'd really like to see what new stamps you have found online this week in your travels.

Birthday Cheesecake

Birthdays are fun except when you are recovering from surgery. I am doing the dinner tonight for Dawn and her family so I made lasagna and a special surprise since her birthday was yesterday. A chocolate chip cheesecake. I'm telling you it took everything I had not to cut it up and eat some LOL. Have you been to this website? I try something new off this site at least every other week. This is my first time trying this paticular cheesecake. Maybe Dawn will share :) If she does I'll let you know if it's as good as it looks!

What is your favorite thing to have on your birthday?

Happy Wednesday aka Hump Day

Help I've fallen and I can't get up. I think that's what my cat Morgan does a lot. Wednesdays are the day I like to post my funny stuff and when I took this photo of my daughter and one of our cats the other day I laughed out loud. I thought my cat looks huge. Well maybe it's because she is huge :) We've tried diet food less food and nothing really works. We are in process of figuring out how to feed out other cats separately from Morgan and see if we can give her less that way. Stay tuned for how well that works! My daughter saw the photo and said "diets don't work I've tried everything" LOL.

Gate Fold with scent!

I made this quick gate card last night using one of my favorite Inky Antic Stamps, I just laugh every time I pick this one up. I colored her with my copics and used twinkling h20's for the "martini" and then it was the first time I used my card scents from Amy at Simply Sista's. I included the link for her site below. She has some fun scents to add to your cards. I used my Mamasita Margarita for this card. What a wonderful thing to add to a card.

Water color Tulips

I finally had an opportunity to stamp tonight and made this card for my challenge from a week ago. I used an older SU set and instead of making it a 2 step card I thought I'd try watercoloring it. I also broke out my new swiss dots embossing folder. I love it and the card was fun to make.

Thank you!

I wanted to thank you for being patient while I've been away from my blog this past week. It was quite a time with my nephew and my friend both being in the hospital. However this is a new week and both are on the way to recovery and we are all very thankful.

Have you ordered from Cricut Corner on Ebay? Incredibly quick shippers and I was able to order the Swiss Dot Embossing Folder so I'm very happy. If you shop Ebay for supplies check them out.

April Fools!

Can you imagine having surgery on April Fools Day? Who is the joke on you or the doctor? LOL. Well my friend Dawn scheduled her surgery this week so a couple of us would be around over Spring Break to help out if needed. I made another card using the Emerging Color Technique but with opposite colors from the other day. I thought it made a pretty get well card. Love ya Dawn.

Going home today!

As you can imagine we are all very thankful Dillon is doing well enough to go home today. He will have to take it easy due to the liver and the neck injuries but he is young and will completely heal up within a few months. God is good! All the time.
