The other guy....

My nephew is still in the hospital but is going to make a full recovery, it's just going to take longer than he thinks! But today I was able to drive my sister to retrieve his cell phone from the Sheriff and then go to the junk yard where his car is. While we were there we realized this was the truck that hit Dillon so I took a few shots of it for him to see. I think he's a happy guy today, I took him a spare laptop to use and we retrieved his cell phone so now he can talk to all his friends. Just a reminder - the EMT was able to give the Sheriff the number for my sister because Dillon had ICE in his phone............please do it if you haven't done so already!

Emerging Color

Last night after I got home from visiting my nephew at the hospital I was able to sit down for a bit and work on this technique. It's called Emerging Color and was a technique on SCS. This is a challenge on one of my other groups this month. I don't know it was because I've been stressed out (ha imagine that) or what but I LOVED this technique. I had so much fun doing it and working on the color. No matter what I vote you should try it soon. :)

Thankful!

I got a phone call from my 16 year old nephew yesterday afternoon. It was around 2pm and I'll tell you it was one of those calls you don't ever want to get. I could hear my sister crying and my nephew Dustin telling me his twin brother Dillon was in an accident and being life flighted to a hospital in the town where I live. My sister and her family live in a smaller farming community about an hour and a half south of me and we have a level one trauma hospital here. I left work without remembering it and drove the hospital trying to make calls to find out what we were in for. All we knew was he'd been involved in an accident and that was about it. My sister finally made it to the place where the helicopter was and saw him for about 2 seconds and that was it. She and her husband had to make the long drive to the hospital here in Fort Wayne. When I got to the hospital I told them I was his Aunt and that my sister was about an hour away and they told me I had to wait for the Chaplin. Let me tell you my knees buckled. But when he came out (FOREVER LATER) he said he was awake and semi alert so I could go back. Let me tell you that was the best thing ever to see him and talk to him. He had tons of glass all over his head, blood all over his face but he was talking. He's still in ICU today recovering but he's one thankful kid. He has a lacerated liver, concussion and soft tissue issues in his neck but at this point he's doing fine. He still has no memory of the crash and can't understand why he had it but he and his passenger are expected to make full recoveries. We are waiting on the results of his MRI today to check neuro stuff but he's expected to be ok. I tell you it may not have been my child but I couldn't have stood it for my sister either. It's been a long weekend already! Dillon is a true joy to have in our family and I'm so grateful to God for protecting him and Ben. If you see the car you can't imagine how anyone got out let alone after being pinned for 40 minutes and then be as well off as he is today.

Friday Challenge Time!

It's Friday Baby so you know what that means. Time for a challenge. How about a Watercolor Challenge? There are so many different ways to watercolor. You can use your SU Inks in the top of the lid and a brush with water, you can use your SU watercrayons too. If you are like me I like to use my primsawatercolor pencils. I'm also including a couple different ways to try it using SCS tutorials. I'd love to see what you come up with. Feel free to use any stamp, any colors just make sure you try watercolors!

I don't have any watercolor crayons but I do have an older Spectrum ink pad I hung on to so I can't wait to try the first technique. Please post a comment with a link to any watercolor cards you make or have made. Thanks!

Birthday Card

I saw a card similar to this that I believe Tangii made and I loved the look of it. In my head I thought this new stamp I got from Inky Antics would look great using her layout. Hopefully my friend Kris will enjoy this birthday card. Thanks for the great idea Tangii.

Hope you likey! MWAH.

Favorite Photo

My daughter Andrea is a "ham" just like me and I always enjoy her sense of humor. This was her easter basket........after she took all the candy out.

Splash Universe

Boy oh boy am I tired. Our family and some friends went to check out the new Splash Universe this weekend up in Shipshewana. The kids had a blast and enjoyed the lazy river a lot. It's quite a bit smaller than Kalahari but a much shorter drive. All in all we all had a nice weekend.

Gate Card - Multiple Challenge Card :)

Marcia - may I please say this Gate Card you challenged me to ROCKS. It gave me a chance to get out my brand spankin new Scorpal......which also ROCKS. Unfortunately I got so carried away with all the dares/challenges this week I forgot to do it using a CAT :) but instead I used an older SU set called Feathered Friends (gasp from 1998) that had never seen an ink pad before tonight. Is that scary or what. So that is my card for Becca too :) You would have all laughed at me tonight I'm on a roll making up for lost time not being able to stamp all week. This allowed me to 1. Use my scorpal for the first time. 2. Make a gate card to show Marcia and 3. Use a stamp that definitely needed inked up for Becca. What a great night...............

My Sketch Challenge - Retro Owl

Ok so today I got to play with my new Owl from www.sideshowstamps.com and I love him so much. I had tons of fun coloring him with different copics and seeing how 70's looking I could get him. I think I see macrame plant holders and big wooden beads in my head right now. Hope you enjoy!

Friday Challenge - Sketch

Ladies - this Friday I thought I'd post a sketch. I was really challenging myself to learn how to create one and it appears I figured it out hahahahahha. The oval is really a punch out so your saying would show through from the inside of the card. Does that make sense? If you decide to play along please send us the link to where you post your card. Happy Friday!

Favorite Stamps

These are a few of the stamps I received from http://www.sideshowstamps.com/ and I love them. I really think they have fun retro stamps. What type of stamps do you love to ink up? Do you have a favorite vendor? Why do you love them? And last but not least how fast is the shipping :) Sorry that's such an issue for me I hate waiting! I have no patience. LOL.
The winner is..................Maxene Choi.........with 10,990 legs. She was correct the first time she posted. There are 392 cats with one girl, 2744 cats with 7 girls, 10976 cat legs and the grand total is 10,990 with 14 legs of 7 girls. I have an excel file I can share with you if you want, it shows you the diagram and the answers. Yes you too can amaze your friends........sorry that was my circus announcer voice. CONGRATS Maxene! I'll be emailing you for your address for you blog candy!

Wednesday Funny

Well folks it's Wednesday and today instead of a joke I thought I'd give you a riddle. Angie asked me this question last Friday night at dinner and we were stumped by it. Her daughter was given this question by a teacher in class. First one to solve it (SORRY ANG not you) gets some blog candy from me. I'll post the answer tomorrow.

There are 7 girls each with 7 backpacks. In each backpack are 7 large cats and inside each large cat there are 7 small cats. How many legs are on the bus?

Postabella RAK

I joined the Postabella RAK group for this month and had to send a card out using a sketch provided on the homepage. I was looking at my ATC's from an older swap and found this one that Miss Angie made isn't it cute? I layered her ATC on hot pink and green paper and used my embossing folders. I couldn't resist the colors. Hope the bella sistah likes it.

My Friday Challenge

Friday I challenged you to work with your favorite color that inspires you. RED always always always makes me happy. This is a clear stamp from a set I got at Archivers and I used my copics to color it. I believe the paper is SU Really Red and Going Gray but I never rember names right so I hope I'm close LOL. Enjoy your day.

Thankful

Our wrestling season is now over and I am thankful that our team had a good season and that our boys ended the season with no serious injuries. I'm thankful my son enjoys this sport so much and that he does well each year. GO DAWGS!

Black and White Kitty

Ladies I've had so much fun with the Kitty Cat Challenge that Marcia does on Fridays. Unfortunately I think this is the last cat stamp I own but isn't it cute? I did shade her up a bit with my grey copic marker and that was about it. Quick and fun to do.

Danni's Flutterby Card

This is the really fun butterfly stamp I bought at convention a few years ago. The people who were selling it covered it in really fine glitter and it was beautiful. I haven't tried that yet though. When I saw it I immediately remembered an old jean jacket I used to have with a butterfly patch on it and so when I colored it I tried to use bright fun colors. I'm looking forward to spring and to seeing some butterflys. Thanks for the challenge Danni.

Recent Orders

Today I ordered a HOT KNIFE from Miss Em stampingbella.com because KIM MADE ME! Just kidding! (http://www.impressyourself.typepad.com/) Check out her blog!

I am really grateful to Em for honoring the emails with the 15.00 coupon which basically made my knife free. What have you ordered that you are excited about? Do you all stalk the post office too? Just wondering................. LOL.

Swivel Card

On a yahoo group I am involved with we had a challenge to make a swivel card. Have you seen this tutorial? I had to admit it turned out to be a lot of fun and if I get a new exacto knife I may make more :) I used an older SU Chicken Wire stamp for the back ground and the Chicken stamp and saying are from Gina K. Aren't they cute?

It's Hump Day :)

Ok so I have a wicked keen sense of humor LOL and I'm making Wednesday my day of funnies amongst other things. But first things first, check out Danni's Dreams (link on right) to see her Wednesday Flutterby day as well as her beautiful bird. ``Also I am excited about Friday's challenge already. Want a clue? See the absolutely fabulous new M&M's above? Yep that's the only hint you get :)
Now for the funny! Seriously folks this is SOOOO MY HUSBAND! (And yes we go to Wal-Mart every Sunday for groceries.........)
This is why women should not take men shopping against their will. After Mr. And Mrs. Brown retired, Mrs. Brown insisted her husband accompany her on her trips to Wal-Mart. Unfortunately, Mr. Brown was like most men--he found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunately, Mrs. Brown was like most women--she loved to browse. One day Mrs. Brown received the following letter from her local Wal-Mart.
Dear Mrs. Brown, Over the past six months, your husband has been causing quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and may be forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against Mr. Brown are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras. 1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people's carts when they weren't looking. 2 . July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in House wares to go off at 5-minute intervals. 3. July 7: Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom. 4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, 'Code 3 in House wares. Get on it right away.' 5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&M's on layaway. 6. September 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area. 7. September 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told other shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department 8. September 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?' 9. October 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose. 10 November 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were. 11. December 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the ' Mission Impossible' theme. 12. December 6: In the auto department, he practiced his 'Madonna look' by using different sizes of funnels. 13. December 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled 'PICK ME! PICK ME!' 14. December 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a fetal position and screamed 'OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!'And last, but not least... 15.. December 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, then yelled very loudly, 'Hey! There's no toilet paper in here!' Regards, Wal-Mart

Did you know?

That wrestlers are not supposed to smile? Yep that's what they told me although had you seen them they were hysterically laughing at each other after they had these brad new hair cuts. Wow look out these bad bulldogs are headed to conference this week LOL. Brad is my son (on the right) and he and his friend Nick decided they needed mohawks for our wrestling conference.

Serengeti - Masculine Card

I cannot believe how much I struggled this week with my own challenge :) I finally decided simple is the way to go. This is from the SU Serengeti set and I colored it with my copics. I sure am still struggling with the colorless blender but I thought he turned out ok. Have a great week!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill's Sketch Challenge

Did you all see that Dawn's husband Bill posted a sketch on her blog? Yep he did. Isn't that cool? This is my card following the sketch he provided. Hope you enjoy. Dawn's blog is http://www.mama2fellas.blogspot.com/ make sure you check it out! She's a great stamper.

Kitty Cat Challenge

Here is my Friday Kitty Challenge for Marcia's blog (www.ciabscraftytimes.blogspot.com) this has been so much fun to do. I felt frazzled this whole weekend. I was crazy busy and I bet at times I looked like this little guy. Again I dug out an old stamp that I bought at a convention a couple years ago. He sure was fun to find and use.
